Ethos NW Debate Camp

Dear NCFCA Friends: We would like to invite your team policy debate students to join us at the end of summer for a debate camp that we are hosting from Ethos Publications. Our son and his debate partner attended one of their camps last summer in Dallas and were really impressed and learned so much. It was a top-notch camp with outstanding coaches and training. Rather than send them across the country again this year, we decided to bring the camp to us and share the experience! Our coaches for the week: 1 NCFCA National Champ (2004) All star Patrick Henry College debaters 2 PHC debate coaches (current and former) 1 Heritage Foundation analyst with a Master’s degree Please see the flyer for a link to the registration site. The cost is $195 for the 1st student with generous sibling discounts. Our local families look forward to hosting those of you who will be from out of town. We will kick off the week with a cook out and social at our home, for students and parents, Sunday evening August 21st. Parents are welcome and can of course attend the class as well for free. The camp will be geared toward the NCFCA resolution. Ethos publishes high quality source materials. We look forward to seeing many of you up here in our beautiful, berry-full corner of NW WA! Please contact: Roger and Jennifer Sefzik 360-366-4012 epicspeechanddebate@gmail.com Download the Flyer

Website Update

Due to the awesome and amazing growth of Speech and Debate in the Puget Sound area over the last couple years we’ve had to make some changes to the website. Here are some goals and some more changes to be implemented in the future. An events/tournaments section will appear on the home page when we get an official list of tournaments. Detailed club information for each club will be coming shortly. A detailed and organized list of past tournaments, results, and maybe some photos. If you have suggestions for changes, would like information posted, or would like to help maintaining the content on the PSSDA site please email admin@pssda.net. Thanks!

Homeschool Speech and Debate Season Goals

Washington State Homeschool Speech & Debate 2010-2011 Season Plan Toward League Affiliation and Tournament Goals The 2010-2011 homeschool speech and debate year provides a unique opportunity for our state and region. Two leagues, NCFCA and Stoa, are available for Washington families to affiliate with. The leagues share the same debate resolutions and similar speech events and rules, but represent two different organizational approaches. After much prayer and considerable review by local forensics clubs and families, the speech and debate club leaders in Washington would like to move into the 2010-2011 year with the following priorities and goals in mind: To provide the best possible experience and training in speech and debate for our children, both at the club level and at tournaments within Washington; To be decidedly unified within the state in our efforts to provide an excellent tournament season for our families; To encourage families within Washington to consider dual affiliation and participation in both leagues so that all may experience the competitive opportunities of both leagues; To have tournaments from both leagues within the state; And to consciously contribute support and labor from all clubs and families in the area to staff tournaments regardless of league sponsorship. The following club leaders support the 2010-2011 plan and welcome other clubs in Washington to join us. Brad and Angela Frye, Lynnwood Apologetics Christina South, Skagit Speech John and Cindy Bell, Verve Shirley Rowe, Silversmith Speech and Debate Club Thom Mullins, Apples of Gold Speech & Debate Club
