A Stoa Speech and Debate Tournament
Mt. Vernon, Washington
April 7th-9th, 2011
Come Join Us!
Come share a new experience in speech and debate tournaments!
This Stoa tournament will include competitors from not only the Pacific Northwest but also Colorado and California.
A Different Kind of League
This tournament will be sanctioned by Stoa which is a relatively new league launched by people with a long track record in sponsoring Christian homeschool speech and debate tournaments. You can be confident that this will be a positive experience in an environment that promotes excellence, celebrates success and focuses on developing skills to help our students serve Christ in our world today. You will need to affiliate with Stoa to participate in The Tulip Cup.
A Unique Approach
In addition to ten sanctioned speech events, Lincoln Douglas Value Debate and Team Policy Debate, we will feature a special event, Duo Impromptu! We will also be holding six preliminary rounds for debate, and then double elimination out-rounds, giving students the opportunity to debate more. Our emphasis is on providing more experience for more students.
A Very Special Location
The Tulip Cup will be held in the beautiful Skagit Valley of Western Washington. The valley is the largest tulip growing area outside The Netherlands. Every spring, the fields explode with color, attracting visitors from all over the world. Tulips open on their own schedule, but we have chosen this time to provide an excellent chance that they will be up, open and spectacular for our tournament this year. Events for the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival including a salmon barbecue will be ongoing during our tournament.
Stoa affiliates who are working toward an invitation to the National Invitational Tournament of Champions (NITOC), will have the chance to earn Green Checks at this tournament. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to participate in NITOC which will be held at the beautiful Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.
